Where should I meditate?2024-07-31T10:17:34+00:00

Eventually, you can have many spaces or one particular spot, but in the beginning, designate one place in your home for meditation.

You don’t need to invest in special cushions or clear an entire room or even a corner. You can meditate on your bed, on a chair, lying down, sitting up, cross-legged or not. But do choose that one seat, posture, cushion, scarf, or object to signify your meditation practice. Making it pretty and peaceful helps signal to the mind and body that this is good for you.

When should I meditate?2024-07-31T10:18:16+00:00

Try to meditate at roughly the same time at least four to five times a week.

Choose a time that works with your daily routine.

For many people, first thing in the morning is best before you’ve been sucked into any responsibilities (emailing, getting kids up, making breakfast). But any time that works for you is perfect.

Put it in your calendar and let your roommates, partner, workmates, or kids know that you are unplugged for that period (and that they will also benefit from being calmer and kinder).

For how long should I sit?2024-07-31T10:19:36+00:00

My recommendation is to start with 5-10 minutes.

Of course, you can decide to meditate for more, but I would recommend you to start small.

Meditating for ten minutes five days a week is much more powerful than one hour twice a month. Think of meditation as strength training (for your brain). A few push-ups daily will yield more results than lifting a heavy dumbbell a single time – in the beginning, five or ten “push-ups” will be your max.

About your Teacher

Maria

Hey there! I’m Maria, the mind behind Maria: Mindfulness and Coaching.

After earning a Master’s in Computer Science, I began my career as an AI Researcher. It feels like a lifetime ago! My journey from tech nerd to mindfulness teacher has given me profound insights into the challenges and stresses of the modern workplace.

Now, I’ve co-founded The Mindful Facilitator, where I work with coaches and leaders to bring mindfulness into their conversations and workplaces. I also mentor coaches at Coaching Outside the Box, helping to foster deeper, more meaningful conversations.

I’ve personally experienced the incredible benefits of consistent mindfulness practice, both in the organizations I collaborate with and in my own life. I truly believe that making mindfulness a part of your daily routine is the first step towards navigating life’s challenges with greater ease and contentment. I hope to see you in the workshop!

These testimonials highlight the real, positive changes that individuals and teams have experienced through our mindfulness programs.

At some point, I also joined Maria’s mindfulness classes in order to gain more tools and resources to help me manage my anxiety and manage through more difficult periods of my life. The exercises I’ve learned from the classes have completed my learnings amazingly. They feel so natural and I’m practicing them everyday. They are great for calming down your mind, prepare for a coaching session, prepare for a challenging meeting – literally anything!

Inês S., Project Manager, London

(..) The turning point came during the first session where she skillfully guided me to discover the underlying causes of my grinding and pressing habits. With her gentle guidance, I ventured into the energies that were causing tension in my neck and back. This revelation illuminated what I had been missing by being solely focused on work, allowing me to forge a deep connection with my body and unconscious mind. It felt like entering a trance-like state and left an indelible mark on me.

Chiara O., Customer Support, Berlin

(..) I’m hopeful that if you offer it again in the future, I’ll be able to attend. I truly value the work you’ve done with me, particularly your presence, kindness, genuine care, and adeptness in working with emotions, and I aspire to embody those same qualities myself.

Naila S., Leadership Coach, Slovenia

(…) In five sessions with (Maria), I gained valuable insights into understanding myself, identifying my desires, and granting myself the freedom to pursue a fulfilling career path. To me this guidance was transformative, fostering self-awareness and empowering me to make choices aligned with my authentic aspirations.
