Finding Serenity with Mindfulness & Coaching
Life can sometimes feel like a puzzle of experiences and emotions. Moments of uncertainty, stress, or unfulfilment.
What can you do during these times?
I find great inspiration from the Buddhist serenity prayer. Ever since I first read it, it has had a significant impact on how I address difficulties and in the way I view my role as a Mindfulness Coach.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.
This is where mindfulness and coaching step in as tools that can assist us in facing these challenges and even transforming them into opportunities for personal growth.
The Role of Mindfulness
Central to this journey is mindfulness, a valuable practice that helps us be more aware of the present moment.
Mindfulness isn’t just about relaxing; it’s also about recognizing and embracing our feelings without judging them.
When we feel uneasy, mindfulness encourages us to create a mental space where we can watch our thoughts and feelings. This self-awareness helps us understand why we’re feeling distressed.
With mindfulness, we start to see through the confusion that hides our inner feelings. By paying attention to our thoughts, we can uncover hidden beliefs and patterns that make us uncomfortable.
This process lets us go beyond the surface and explore our experiences more deeply.
As we understand our experiences better and allow them without judgment, over time, we become capable of accepting what we can’t change.
If you’re looking for help to establish mindfulness practice, I’ve got something that might help—my free mini-course called The Mindful Habit is designed to help you on your meditation journey.
The Mindful Habit is a gentle online self-paced program that includes a few different mindfulness practices, Meditation, Journaling and Yoga, and will guide you towards a more resilient and balanced way of being.
The Role of Coaching
While mindfulness gives us a solid foundation for self-awareness and lowers our reactivity, coaching can effectively shine a light on aspects of our experience that have not been uncovered yet that prevent us from moving forward.
A skilled coach helps us spot the beliefs that hold us back. These beliefs often stem from past experiences, society’s expectations, or limits we put on ourselves.
Coaching helps us bring these beliefs to the surface. It challenges and reshapes them, making them match our true dreams and enabling us to change what’s within our control.

Wrapping up
As the Prayer goes, finding serenity involves blending the skills that we can learn from mindfulness and coaching into our personal growth journey.
Mindfulness serves as a powerful practice for training our focus and self-awareness, effectively guiding us to allow whatever is present without judgment and reducing our reactivity. On the other hand, Coaching gently shines a light on the corners of our belief system that may be preventing us from taking action.
By combining these approaches, we prepare ourselves to navigate both the calm waters and the stormy seas.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. You’ve got this, keep going, and keep being awesome!
Until next time!
Much love,
Maria
